Chia Ming Chien been writing professionally since graduating from Murdoch University in 1984. He fell into feature writing during university when his professor, the late John R. Raser, who co-owned The Fremantle Gazette, asked him to contribute to his weekly column “Something To Think About”, a platform for socio-political commentary. Positive comments from readers led to further contributions (mostly coinciding with his professor’s holidays).
After graduating, Ming Chien was a stringer for various Hongkong-based magazines (AsiaBanking, Asian Advertising & Marketing). He then worked full-time as a features writer for a two lifestyle magazines.
He has since contributed to numerous publications including The Straits Times, ASIA! magazine, Tiger Tales, Business Minds, The Practice, FHM, and MARKETING magazine.
He contributed one chapter to the book Hearts, Hopes & Aims (Landmark Books, Singapore), and two lengthy chapters in Singapore Explorer (Explorer Publishing, Dubai).
